Photo: MBC Rating: ★★★★☆  Huhu meter: ▮▯▯▯▯  Genre: Legal, Crime Main Cast: Lee Jong-Suk, Lim Yoon-A, Kim Joo-Hun SYNOPSIS   A lawyer with an unimpressive win rate who is perceived to be all talk has been labeled as Big Mouth. After getting entangled in a murder case, he was suspected to be the high-profile gang leader Big Mouse. His wife who supported him to become a lawyer attempts to clear his name. ✖️✖️✖️  The big reveal could have been a lot more exciting and I probably would have given a 5-star rating if all the issues have been addressed and given proper closure.😅 ✔️✔️✔️  Big Mouth managed to be exciting all throughout the series. In each episode, you'll be at the edge of your seat and the cliffhangers will definitely keep you binging until the finale.👀 WHO IS BIG MOUTH FOR? If you're looking for a suspenseful drama that will keep you thinking and guessing, Big Mouth will probably do well at entertaining you.

Review: Vincenzo (2021)

Photo: tvN Rating: ★★★★☆  Huhu meter: ▮▮▯▯▯  Genre: Action, Suspense, Comedy  Main Cast: Song Joong-Ki, Jeon Yeo-Bin, TaecYeon SYNOPSIS   A Korean-Italian lawyer based in Italy who works as consigliere in a mafia returns to South Korea. He aims to recover gold bars hidden in a building that's about to be demolished. The story unfolds as the tenants of the building get involved after learning that the purchase of the property they're in was done illegally. ✖️✖️✖️  Not that I hate it but slapstick comedy is a little too much for me. Some scenes made me laugh out loud and some were just alright. ✔️✔️✔️  The action scenes, for me, were greatly executed. The fall of the antagonists was also satisfying in my opinion. Ah, that final dance of the Zumba Queen.😁 There are a couple of key takeaways for me. First, nothing ever goes 100% according to plan. For every goal we have, there will always be roadblocks but it will be our determination and actions that will dic...

Review: Mr. Queen (2020)

Image
Photo: tvN Rating: ★★★★★  Huhu meter: ▮▯▯▯▯  Haha meter: ▮▮▮▮▮  Genre: Comedy, Historical - Fiction Main Cast: Shin Hye-Sun, Kim Jung-Hyun SYNOPSIS A present-day Blue House Chef gets into trouble and accidentally drowns while he was being chased by the police. When he wakes up, he finds himself inside the body of a Joseon Queen. THE GOOD IT. WAS. HILARIOUS. ALL CAPS para intense.😂 I don't think I've ever seen a South Korean drama that was as funny as Mr. Queen. But don't take this show lightly just because it's a comedy. If you watch it, you'll see that it's full of substance. I loved how cooking/food blended with its political theme because I personally believe that food can be a great instrument in achieving world peace. ✌  That's just me though.  Geun-de,  I've seen in MQ that it could actually be possible.  The actors, main and supporting, were all fantastic. No role felt irrelevant. Also, what added hilarity to the show were the characters that ...

Review: The Uncanny Counter (2020)

Image
Photo: OCN Rating: ★★★★☆ Huhu meter: ▮▮ ▯ ▯ ▯ Genre: Fantasy, Thriller Main Cast:  Joe Byeong-Gyu, Yu Jun-Sang, Kim Se-Jeong, Yum Hye-Ran SYNOPSIS A group of Counters are tasked to fight off evil spirits that possess humans with tendencies to commit crimes. When one of them dies in a battle with an extremely strong evil spirit, he was immediately replaced with a high school student.  The Counters are disguised as a family with a very popular hole-in-the-wall noodle restaurant. Their powers include sensing humans possessed with evil spirits, reading people's memories, extreme strength, and an ability to heal others quickly. THE GOOD The Uncanny Counter is an engaging thriller with satisfying fight scenes. The effects were pretty cool too. Actors: All actors, main and supporting, were great. Joe Byeong-Gyu was surprising for me since I just saw him with a fun role in Hot Stove League. Key takeaways: There were a lot of bullying scenes in TUC so this is one of the major takeaways...

Review: Cheat On Me If You Can (2020)

Image
Photo: KBS2 Rating: ★★★★ ☆ Huhu meter: ▮▯▯▯▯  Genre: Thriller, Romance, Comedy Main Cast:  Cho Yeo-Jeong, Ko Jun, Kim Young-Dae, Yeon Woo SYNOPSIS A best-selling crime novelist is married to a famous divorce lawyer. They have a notarized agreement stating that if the husband cheats, the wife will have authority over his body. Essentially, if he cheats, he dies. Their lives turn upside down when they become entangled with a murder case THE GOOD It's an engaging thriller but I love that there were a lot of funny scenes despite the gravity of the murder case and the seriousness of all the other issues tackled in this drama. I'm usually impatient with mystery shows but with COMIYC, I certainly did not mind that the case was resolved only in the last episode.  Actors: They were all fantastic but Cho Yeo-Jeong really stood out for me. Her role was complex as she had to appear murderous but also kind of naive. Ko Jun was funny and annoying. Kim Young-Dae can, as they usually say...

Review: Run On (2020)

Photo: JTBC Rating: ★★★★☆  Huhu meter: ▮▮▯ ▯ ▯   Genre: Drama, Romance, Sports Main Cast: Im Si-Wan, Shin Se-Kyung, Sooyoung, Kang Tae-Oh SYNOPSIS A popular athlete for the National Team was forced to quit due to a controversy with his teammates. Together with an interpreter he met during one of his tours, he tries to discover a new career path. ✖️✖️✖️ The first few episodes were really slooooow. I almost gave up on it thinking the story wouldn't pick up but I was too intrigued with the pairing of the characters. ✔️✔️✔️ Once the pace picked up and the story was finally more interesting, it became a gift that keeps on giving. The lines in this show were very true to life. They're just like the conversations you have with your friends. I haven't seen any of the lead characters in any show before so that was refreshing for me. The soundtrack Run To You by LUCY was good.  There's an LGBT plot here and I loved how it was handled. Key takeaways from this show are mostly about...

Review: Strongest Deliveryman (2017)

Image
Photo: KBS2 Rating: ★★★★☆ Huhu meter: ▮▯ ▯ ▯ ▯   Genre: Romance, Comedy Strongest Deliveryman tells a story about a young deliveryman who eventually started a food delivery app company. He had a lot of personal and professional challenges. On top of sustaining his business and helping small restaurants, he needed to compete  against a conglomerate that aims to shut them down. While I appreciate how it conveyed the importance of grit and determination when pursuing one's goals, I also liked the way it showed the reality that there are people who just feel hopeless in a place that's supposed to be their home. Some people prefer moving to a foreign land because they feel that their country and their government have failed them.   The issues addressed in the show may be serious but the delivery was actually entertaining. I just think that there wasn't enough chemistry between the main leads but, the entire cast made up for it. The lead couple was serious most of the time...
