Review: Hot Stove League (2019)

Rating: ★★★★☆
A friend who was kind of into sports recommended this series but I wasn't sure if I would be interested in a baseball-themed drama. After 1 episode though, I just wanted to binge-watch. It was good and had very interesting twists.

Hot Stove League is about a newly-appointed General Manager of Dreams, a professional baseball team that has been ranking last for the past few seasons. He was tasked to rebuild the team and make it win in the coming season but he is given a hard time by the players, by some of the Management staff, and by the person who hired him.
Since hot stove league actually refers to baseball's off-season, this is what the series focuses on. Basically, just training and trading of players - with a lot of exciting drama in between. They showed a few actual games which I enjoyed but, I think having more of those would've been more entertaining.
I loved the characters and how they were portrayed by the actors. Even the supporting roles were highlighted and there was something you'd learn from their individual storylines.
I don't know if many people would find this series interesting but I did and I learned a lot about managing a team, dealing with difficult people, trusting the people you work with, and being trustworthy yourself.
